Abbotsford police stop teen driving almost triple the speed limit

The Abbotsford Police Department says it took seven excessive speeders off the road Friday, including an 18-year-old man who was travelling at close to three times the posted speed limit.

Police say the man was clocked going 140 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

“When stopped, the driver claimed he was late for an exam and needed to make up lost time,” the AbbyPD said.

“However, excuses don’t override road safety.”

The department says it has impounded 127 vehicles for excessive speeding so far this year.
