A pedestrian was taken to hospital in serious condition Saturday after being hit by a car in the Downtown Eastside.

The VPD says the pedestrian was hit on the Powell Street overpass around 5 p.m.

BC Emergency Health Services tells 1130 NewsRadio that paramedics cared for one patient on the scene before taking them to hospital in serious condition.

Corp. Tania Visintin says the injuries are non-life-threatening.

The file remains under investigation, she says.
