Homicide investigators called in after residential fire in Langley

The Langley RCMP says the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in after a body was found after a fire Friday.

Police received reports of the residential structure fire just before 7:30 a.m. The body was located once the blaze was extinguished.

“At this early stage of the investigation, it is unknown how the individual died, and their death is being treated as suspicious until deemed otherwise,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.

Mounties say they are working with IHIT, fire investigators, and the BC Coroners’ Service to investigate the fire.

Nearby residents are advised that investigators will be canvassing the area for witnesses and video surveillance.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
