Homicide investigators have been called to Chilliwack after a woman was found dead Monday morning.
The Chilliwack RCMP says it was called to reports of a “suspicious occurrence” on Vedder Road near Knight Road around 11 a.m.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called when first responders discovered the body of a dead woman, and the area was closed off for several hours.
In an update Tuesday, IHIT says it has determined that the woman was a victim of homicide. Police have identified and provided a photo of 37-year-old victim Chantelle Ruhl in an effort to advance the investigation.

IHIT says Ruhl, a Chilliwack resident, had no fixed address but was known to frequent the area where her body was found.
“It is essential for investigators to establish a timeline leading up to Ms. Ruhl’s death,” said Sgt. Freda Fong. “We believe there are people who have information about Ms. Ruhl’s movements between Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and Monday, April 21, 2025, and it is important for us to talk to them.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the area at the time is asked to contact investigators by calling the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
