A 50-year-old woman from Langley was hit with over $800 in fines and had her vehicle towed after being pulled over by the BC Highway Patrol last week.
Mounties say the woman was driving on Highway 99 near Highway 17A in Delta, solo, in the HOV lane — but that wasn’t her only infraction.
“When the officers checked the minivan’s Temporary Operating Permit (a paper licence used for short periods of insurance), they found that it was a forgery,” police explained Thursday.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says highway patrol isn’t just looking for “lane cheaters” but all kinds of criminal activity on the roads.
The minivan driver was fined $109 for driving alone in the HOV lane, $109 for changing lanes over a solid white line, and $598 for driving without insurance.
“In addition, the minivan was towed at the owner’s expense.”
The BCHP says the driver has been issued a summons to appear in court on criminal charges.
