The Pattullo Bridge, which connects New Westminster and Surrey, will be closed to traffic in both directions over the coming May long weekend.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 16, the closure will be in effect until Tuesday, May 20, at 5 a.m.
“The work that’s being done is part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project and is required to safely install drainage and complete foundations for the approaches to the new replacement bridge in New Westminster and Surrey,” TransLink said in a statement on Tuesday.

TransLink says people who would usually take the Pattullo are being encouraged to take the Alex Fraser or Port Mann bridges instead during the Victoria Day weekend.
“N19 NightBus trips affected by the closures will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations.”
Drivers should plan for an extra 30 minutes of travel time, TransLink adds, saying that there will be plenty of signage indicating all traffic changes and routes.
The new Pattullo Bridge was initially expected to open last year, however, in May 2024, the province announced that the project would be delayed until at least fall 2025, due to supply chain issues.
