High-risk offender rearrested after reports of man masturbating in East Vancouver alley

Police say a high-risk sex offender is back in custody and facing a new charge related to an indecent act in East Vancouver Wednesday.

The Vancouver Police Department says a woman living near Woodland Drive and East Broadway reported a man seen masturbating in a lane and looking into houses around 5 p.m.

A 25-year-old suspect was arrested nearby.

The suspect is a convicted sex offender, currently serving a five-year supervision order for sexual assault, assault, and breaking and entering.

Since the arrest Wednesday, he is charged with committing an indecent act.

Police say he remains in custody. Court records show a man with the same name as the suspect is expected in court on June 11.
