Lions Gate Bridge reopens after several-hour closure Sunday morning due to crash

The Lions Gate Bridge, which connects Vancouver with the North Shore, was closed in both directions for several hours after a crash early Sunday morning.

The Vancouver Police Department says it was called out to the scene around 5 a.m., but BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says it was sent out just after 4 a.m.

“One ambulance was dispatched and paramedics provided medical care on scene,” BCEHS told 1130 NewsRadio.

“Two patients were transported to hospital in stable condition.”

VPD Const. Tania Visintin says the cause of the collision is still being investigated, but speed may have been a factor.

Photos from the scene appear to show a grey Corvette that may have jumped the curb and was sitting on the sidewalk against a bush.

Meanwhile, the bridge fully reopened around 10 a.m.
