SUV driver hits 87-year-old pedestrian in Richmond, causing life-threatening injuries

An 87-year-old woman sustained serious, life-threatening injuries after being struck by the driver of an SUV in Richmond.
The Richmond RCMP says the incident occurred on Saturday around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of No. 3 Road and Granville Avenue.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital. The driver of the SUV suffered minor physical injuries and remained at the scene, cooperating with the investigation.
“The Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken conduct of the file and will seek to determine both the cause of the crash as well as whether criminality was a factor,” said Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the BC RCMP.
