When firefighters arrived, the smoke was billowing from the building.

Trudeau says some residents had made their way to the roof and had to be rescued from there.

“A number of people went to the roof and required rescue from the roof with ladders,” Trudeau told CityNews.

The BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says it responded to the scene at 2:45 p.m. and paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to two patients.

“One patient was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The other patient did not require hospital transport,” said BCEHS spokesperson Bowen Osoko.

In total, firefighters rescued 3 people from the roof with ground ladders.

Trudeau said they sent fire crews door to door to make sure nobody else was left inside.

The two people who were injured suffered from burns and smoke inhalation.

The fire has been knocked down.

The

Investigators at the scene determined that the fire was accidental, caused by a candle used for drug use.
