Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of Metro Vancouver as well as the lower Sunshine Coast and Howe Sound regions.
The weather agency says a frontal system that’s “unseasonably” laden with moisture is expected to cross British Columbia’s south coast on Friday.

The bulletin says the rain is expected to taper off in the late evening on the Sunshine Coast and after midnight across eastern Metro Vancouver.
No real threat of major flooding
1130 NewsRadio Meteorologist Carl Lam says Vancouver can expect between 30 to 50 millimetres of rain starting Friday.
“Up against the mountains, those rainfall totals could even get close to 75mm,” said Lam.
Environment Canada says water pooling on roadways will raise the risk of hydroplaning.
Additionally, the agency is warning about the potential for limited visibility during the downpours, which will be heaviest during Friday’s afternoon commute.
However, officials say there is no real threat of major flooding.
The rains could also cause water levels in rivers and creeks to rise rapidly, and anyone in or around waterways is advised to stay alert.
North Shore Rescue spokesperson Al McMordie says to stay away from streams and creeks.
“People have to realize how strong the current is. And if they are taking their dogs with them, make sure their dogs are on a leash, and you keep them back from the water,” McMordie explained.
Environment Canada says the heavy rain should taper off just after midnight Friday.
