Crews battled a massive fire at a vacant home in New Westminster Thursday morning.
Fire and Rescue Chief Erin Williams says firefighters responded to the blaze near Queens Avenue and 10th Street around 5:15 a.m.

He says it appeared to be a vacant, single-family house, so crews prioritized a defensive attack to protect a neighbouring apartment building from exposure.
Early images from the scene showed huge flames issuing from the top floors of the building. By 7 a.m. emergency crews appeared to have significantly knocked the fire down.

But, a video shared before 8 a.m. showed small flames still coming from the roof.
Around 8:30 a.m., Williams confirmed that firefighters were still battling remaining hotspots.
He says no one was reported injured, and Fire and Rescue and the New Westminster Police Department will be investigating to determine the cause.
