Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 14-year-old was sprayed in Central Park and required emergency medical help.

Another person was sprayed outside a local pub around 10 p.m. the same night. Police say the victim was identified but declined to pursue an investigation.

Mounties say the most serious incident happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, near Sardis Secondary School, where one person was sprayed after a “group altercation.”

“In the third case, officers quickly identified and arrested a 15-year-old suspect nearby,” said a statement Thursday.

Police say the suspect was in breach of court-imposed conditions for carrying a weapon.

Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill tells 1130 NewsRadio that police believe he was connected to the first incident, but are unable to confirm his connection to the second incident.

The boy was “held in custody for court proceedings” on Wednesday.

The Chilliwack RCMP is reminding people that owning bear spray for the purpose of self-defence against humans is illegal in Canada.

A Chilliwack city bylaw also regulates who can purchase bear spray and requires sellers to document its sale.
