Thunderstorms and hot, dry conditions increase wildfire activity

Thunderclouds are moving across southern British Columbia as the province experiences persistent hot and dry weather.
These weather conditions could potentially lead to more wildfire ignitions.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO 1130 NEWSRADIO VANCOUVER LIVE!The BC Wildfire Service reports that central and northern regions continue to face high temperatures, with wildfires in both B.C. and neighboring areas contributing to the hazy atmosphere.
The Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation alert, affecting over 5,500 hectares of land in the Tsetzi Lake area due to an out of control wildfire.
Currently, one structure is at risk.
Additionally, three small fires have been reported northwest of Whistler, but none have triggered any evacuation alerts or orders.
There are currently 83 active wildfires in the province, with 17 having been recorded in the past 24 hours alone.
