Highway 1 was temporarily closed in both directions Friday morning after a serious crash between Hope and Yale.
Cpl. Dave Noon with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service says police would be investigating for several hours.

BCHP says the crash between the drivers of a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck happened just after 6 a.m. Police describe it as a “head-on” collision.
“The driver of the tractor-trailer is unhurt, but the driver of the pickup has been taken to hospital with serious injuries,” Mounties said.
Video from the crash shows a flaming tractor-trailer and a person standing beside the wreckage of a pickup truck.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says police are making progress, but they’re asking for drivers’ patience.
In an update shortly before 1 p.m., DriveBC said Highway 1 had reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.
The closure came while a wildfire temporarily forced the closure of the Coquihalla Highway.
Another blaze is burning close to Highway 3 — the other major route between the Lower Mainland and the Interior — but the BC Wildfire service says it does not currently pose a threat to the highway.
“We understand that major highway shutdowns cause major inconvenience, but we don’t want anyone else to get hurt,” said McLaughlin.
The Coquihalla Highway reopened at noon Friday. DriveBC says no stopping will be allowed between Hope and Merritt.
