VPD arrest man following two armed robberies

Vancouver Police have arrested and charged one suspect following an investigation into two armed robberies near Olympic Village last week.

Police say they received a report shortly before 9 a.m. on Dec. 12 regarding a robbery at a coffee shop near Quebec Street and East 2nd Avenue. Witnesses allege the suspect had a knife.

As officers were responding to the incident, police received a second call about a robbery at a neighbouring business on Quebec Street.

Officers located a suspect in the area and took him into custody.

Police say a 45-year-old man has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The suspect remains in custody.
