Man charged with murder in connection with the death of his wife in Merritt

The Merritt RCMP says a man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife.

Police say they received a call on Dec. 16 requesting assistance at a home due to a “disturbance.”

When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Pamela Jarvis suffering from significant injuries. She was taken to hospital, where she later died.

Mounties say the suspect left the home before they arrived, but they were able to find him and take him into custody.

“Investigators can confirm that this was an isolated incident and that the individuals involved were known to one another,” the RCMP said.

Her husband, 49-year-old Christopher Jarvis, is in custody as he awaits a court appearance, which is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2026.

Editor’s note: an earlier version of this story had included a misspelling of Christopher Jarvis’ last name.
