Surrey business damaged after suspected arson, police say

Police are looking into a suspected arson at a Surrey business overnight.

Crews were called out to the scene on 80th Avenue near 120th Street just after midnight Sunday.

Surrey Fire Services fully extinguished the blaze, and police say damage to the building was minor.

Asst. Chief Mike McNamara tells CityNews only one suite was affected. He was unable to share the name of the business, but photos taken at the scene indicate that it may have been the Fruiticana grocery store. The business has since reopened.

The motive is under investigation. Police are now searching for suspects.

Anyone with information or video is asked to call the Surrey Police Service (SPS) at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

We have reached out to the SPS for updates.
