A section of a street in Langley was closed Thursday afternoon due to a gas emergency, FortisBC says.
“We can confirm FortisBC crews are responding to a damaged gas main caused by an external party near the intersection of 80th Avenue and 197th Street in Langley,” a spokesperson told 1130 NewsRadio.
“The local fire department was onsite and has closed 80th Avenue between 192nd Street and 199th Street while our crews make the necessary repairs to our system.”
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., a spokesperson said the issue was under control and service was expected to be restored within half an hour.
“The fire department has cleared the site, but the road closure remains temporarily in effect.”
