Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle in Delta

A woman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle in a parking lot in Delta’s Tsawwassen neighbourhood on Friday.
The Delta Police Department (DPD) says that the incident occurred when the vehicle entered the lot shortly before 2:30 p.m. near 10th Avenue and 54A Street.

“Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, later succumbed to those injuries,” DPD superintendent Jody Waldron said.
The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.
While the investigation of the incident is ongoing, police say that impairment is not a factor.
The DPD advises drivers to avoid the area as road closures are currently in effect.
