Fake gun stops SkyTrain in New West Tuesday evening

On Tuesday night at approximately 8 p.m., the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) was called to the parking garage underneath New West SkyTrain station.

A man appeared to have a handgun in the garage off of Carnarvon Street, police say.

The man was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a replica firearm in a holster and ammunition magazines.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

SkyTrain service was temporarily halted while police responded to the call, they say.
