The stakes are high as Canada hopes to wrap the Group Stage of the FIFA World Cup with a positive result against the Swiss.

Last week, we watched the Canadian men’s national team rally around the injured Ismael Kone in the 6-0 drubbing of Qatar at BC Place, and now the Swiss are here.

It’s very simple for Team Canada: win or draw and they will finish first in the group.

If that is the case, they will play in the round of 32 at BC Place, and a potential round of 16 game would also be on home turf. If they lose today and travel to the United States for the round of 32 — not necessarily playing the Americans — they will lose home pitch advantage.

Alphonso Davies will look to make his first appearance at this world cup. The former Vancouver Whitecap is expected to play limited minutes for Canada Wednesday.
