RCMP respond to ‘serious incident’ in Maple Ridge

The Maple Ridge RCMP says it was on the scene of a “serious incident” Tuesday evening.

Mounties posted on social media shortly after 9:30 p.m., saying they were in the area of 287 Street and 112 Avenue.

“Multiple units responded including the BC RCMP LMD Emergency Response Team (ERT), Police Dog Services (PDS), and multiple frontline and plainclothes units,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

“This incident is part of an ongoing investigation being led by the Richmond RCMP. Maple Ridge RCMP continues to work closely with Richmond RCMP and other partner agencies on this matter.”

Photos taken at the scene show emergency vehicles lined up along a rural road and officers working with canines.

We have reached out to the Richmond RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services for more information.

Maple Ridge police say they were also called to an unrelated report of shots fired on Lougheed Highway near Carshill Street around the same time.
