Police investigating after shots fired in South Surrey

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is investigating a shots-fired incident in South Surrey Thursday evening.

Police say they were called to a residential complex on 175A Street, just north of the Canada-U.S. border, shortly before 7 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

“Two suspects, described as men wearing dark clothing, reportedly fled on foot and it is unknown if they are connected to any vehicles,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said in a news release.

“The suspects were not located despite police containing and searching the area with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service.”

The SPS says officers found the person who is believed to have been the intended victim. They were uninjured.

No injuries have been reported and it isn’t clear if there was any property damage, police say.

The incident is thought to have been targeted, but there is no evidence to link it to extortion, Houghton says.

Anyone with information or video footage is asked to call the SPS non-emergency number at 604-599-0502 and refer to file 26-108223.
