VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Health Canada has issued recalls for two products sold in Canada.  The first involves the Glass Water Bottle sold by Starbucks.  Health Canada says the glass stopper or water bottle can shatter when removing or inserting the stopper.  Starbucks has received 10 reports of either the glass stoppers or water bottles shattering, including eight reports of cuts to the hand. Check the bottom of the bottle for SKU number: 11003503.

Consumers should immediately stop using the glass water bottles and return them to any company-operated Starbucks location to receive a full refund.  Starbucks is also offering a complimentary beverage, of any size, to customers upon the return of their purchase.  For more information, consumers may contact Starbucks toll-free at 1-877-492-6333 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, or visit the Starbucks website.

Meantime, Health Canada is also recalling the Glazed Ceramic Butterfly Tea Set by Schylling. These are children’s tea sets made of glazed ceramic and include plates, tea cups, a tea pot, and a creamer.  There is a pink butterfly pattern on each item.  Health Canada has revealed that the glaze on the recalled butterfly tea set contains cadmium in excess of the allowable limits.  For more information, consumers may contact the Customer Service Department of Schylling Associates, Inc. at 1-800-541-2929 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
