BC Hydro making some changes to smart meters

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC Hydro insists smart meters are safe, but the crown corporation is still making some changes to satisfy homeowners who are worried about radiation.
Anyone concerned about electromagnetic radiation will be able to move the meters to somewhere else on their property, though they’ll have to pick up the bills themselves.
Hydro brought in smart meters to cut down on electricity theft from grow ops, which is estimated at more than $100 million every year, although an opinion piece in the Vancouver Sun suggests data about the amount of electricity being stolen doesn’t always add up.
