Whitecaps FC & New York are fit to be tied at BC Place

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Whitecaps FC centre back Martin Bonjour and New York’s Heath Pearce exchanged goals 11 minutes apart late in the second half as Vancouver and the Red Bulls played to a 1-1 draw at BC Place.

Bonjour’s strike came off of a corner kick in the 75th minute. His right footed strike from the top of the box curled high behind New York goalie Ryan Meara.

The Red Bulls levelled the game in the 86th, as Pearce was one of three Red Bulls that had an open header off of a short cross from the right wing. Pearce, also a defender had no problem beating Joe Cannon.

Cannon had to make five saves in front of 20,060 fans at BC Place.

The Caps remain in fourth spot in the Western Conference, one point in front of Seattle.

Vancouver heads out on the road for the next five games, starting Saturday in Los Angeles against the LA Galaxy.
