TORONTO – A man in Toronto has been seriously hurt testing out some camping equipment ahead of the long weekend.
The victim has burns to much of his body after lighting a propane heater inside his 18th floor apartment early this morning.
The gear burst into flames, burning him and starting a fire.
People who live in the area say it’s lucky the flames didn’t spread — and are quite angry.
“I’m sure it was an innocent act of idiocy, and thank God nobody [else] was seriously hurt… Lesson learned for him,” says one man.
Experienced campers say this serves as a reminder that when testing out propane equipment, it should never be done inside.
The man has second and third-degree burns to about 30 per cent of his body, including his feet and hands.
