SURREY (NEWS 1130) – The Surrey Knights have won a court battle that could have ended with the team getting kicked out of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.
The dispute dates back to September 2015 when Coach John Craighead took part in a fight.
The on-ice fight involved Craighead, an opposing coach, and a player. The incident happened during a game in Langley where the Knights used to be based.

BC Supreme Court Justice Janet Winteringham has ruled lawyers for the league waited too long to expel the team.
“The PJHL (Pacific Junior Hockey League) violated the principles of procedural fairness by instituting the proceedings against the Surrey Knights almost 21 months after the Incident and failed to provide adequate or sufficient notice to the Petitioners that their membership was at risk,” read the court document.
Now that he’s served a three-year suspension issued by Hockey Canada, Craighead is backing coaching the team.
