VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It was another topsy-turvy 12 months in the world of BC politics. News1130 is taking brief look back on the year that was inside and outside of the Legislature.
“I think you know that today I made a change in my office,” said Christy Clark at one point this year. In fact, it was a year of many changes for the premier.
Cabinet ministers, MLAs, a chief of staff, and various communications aides passed through the Clark’s revolving door.
Sara McIntyre, who formerly worked with Stephen Harper, got a quick lesson on how things are done west of the Rockies when she tried to shield Clark from an inquisitive media.
Clark tried to use the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline to boost her flagging popularity. Despite that, NDP boss Adrian Dix saw his support overtake the premier’s.
A big test for Dix was appearing before the pro-business Vancouver Board of Trade.
“It’s kind of great to be here at a Vancouver Board of Trade event sponsored by labour unions!” he said.
After threatening to split the right-wing vote, 2012 also saw the implosion of John Cummins and his BC Conservatives, when infighting caused them to lose half their support.
