Heat warnings this weekend across Canada and the U.S.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Sunny skies and some toasty temperatures in the low 20s are in the forecast for Vancouver this weekend, but it’s downright scorching for other parts of Canada and the U.S.
Heat warnings remain in effect in parts of five provinces and the Northwest Territories, but have been lifted across Ontario.
The humidex in Halifax is expected to hit 41 C Sunday afternoon.
A ridge of high pressure over the southern Northwest Territories is leading to daytime highs near 30, and Environment Canada says it’s going to stay that hot for most of the week.

The U.S. National Weather Service has also issued excessive heat warnings for several states. Scorching hot temperatures forced the cancellation of New York City’s commemoration of the 1969 moon landing, an outdoor festival featuring soccer star Megan Rapinoe and musician John Legend, and the New York City Triathlon.
In some parts of Canada, including Toronto and Montreal, humidex values reached the low 40s.
Vancouver will be hot, but not too hot. The temperature will hit a high of 28 degrees on Monday.
