VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An early morning fight in Yaletown that escalated into a stabbing has sent four men to the hospital, one of them in serious condition.
Vancouver Police responded to a call about a “large group of men fighting” near Hamilton and Helmcken Streets before 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning and found the men with stab wounds.
One of the four men in hospital is being treated for serious injuries.
Officers closed off parts of the Yaletown District during the investigation, no arrests have been announced.
Mychaylo Prystupa, who lives in the area, says lots of people were out Saturday night.
“This area has a lot of activity at night on weekends. People party here, we often as residents see fights go down,” he told NEWS 1130.
“I remember looking out my window and just thinking ‘yea, another weekend night in Yaletown.’ People come down here to entertain themselves and to drink and to party.”
He adds a limo appeared to be part of the investigation.
“This huge stretch limo just parked here with police tape all around it and there appears to be some rubber gloves left here on the ground,” Prystupa said.
