CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary mother has been arrested and charged following an investigation into an online video.
On Tuesday, police received multiple tips about a video featured through the live streaming service Twitch.
The video showed a woman playing Fortnite, while roughly handling one of her children.
Warning: Video may be disturbing to some viewers.
Calgary police say they were able to identify the woman quickly thanks to the help from those watching the stream live.
“People are really live streaming their entire life,” Staff Sgt. Peter Siegenthaler. “So, we were just fortunate that several people noticed that video right off the bat and called the police.”
One person even calling 9-1-1 in California to report the incident.
“Probably within several hours, 2 hours, we were able to identify the person. We had our Child At Risk Response Team at the house, we were securing the children,” Siegenthaler said.
The woman is alleged to have slapped, pushed and bitten her 14-month-old son during the course of the video.
