VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Grocery store workers and those in retail have been hard at work throughout the pandemic, and finally, those workers over 18 in the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health region are eligible for an early COVID-19 vaccine.
The union representing grocery store employees says those workers can soon expect to receive more information from their employer, or union about how they can register.
According to a release from the union representing grocery and retail employees, this is something it has been demanding from the government since January.
The union also pushed for three hours of paid leave in order for those workers to get their shots, which was also granted in April.
The announcement goes on to say that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given out to workers over 30 years of age, at certain workplaces in the Lower Mainland. Those stores will be notified by their employer about their next steps in securing their early vaccination.
