Police issued the alert shortly before 4 a.m. Friday for the child, whom they allege had been abducted. They said she was last seen around 2 a.m. in the area of Carling Avenue and Pinecrest Road.
Police conducted a ground search of the area.
“The Ottawa Police are treating this missing incident as suspicious,” read the public advisory issued by police.
Ottawa police had originally identified the suspect as the child’s grandmother but then released a correction saying that is not the case.
