Heavy rain expected for Lower Mainland, warning issued

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A rainfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada, as the Lower Mainland braces for its first official storm of the season.
Heavy rain is expected Sunday, with up to 70 mm forecasted for Metro Vancouver, Howe Sound, and East Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada says rain will begin Sunday morning and continue through the evening before easing early Monday.
Wind gusts of 60 km/h are also expected for the afternoon and evening.
The weather bureau is reminding drivers to turn lights on and maintain a safe following distance, as visibility may be reduced. It is also warning of possible flash floods and water pooling on roads.
