A celebrity endorsement of the BC Lions brought the CFL to the Super Bowl Sunday.
A photo of Will Ferrell decked out in Lions gear, complete with an iconic orange jersey and toque, alongside Vancouverite Ryan Reynolds is making the rounds on social media.
“Will keeps asking why there’s no fourth down,” the tweet from the B.C.-born actor reads, referring to the difference between NFL and CFL football.

The Lions took the tweet and ran with it, joking that “recruiting season has been … in full force for several weeks.”
In a post on the BC Lions’ website, Matt Baker, communications manager for the team, jokes that those efforts were “also prevalent in the middle of Super Bowl LVI between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals,” but that this time, “it was Vancouver-born and noted BC Lions fan, Ryan Reynolds, doing the recruiting.”
“As you can see below, it seems Will Ferrell is trying to blend in with the Bengals supporters by donning a Joel Figueroa home Lions jersey,” the post reads, referring to the now-viral image of the two comedians at the big game.
