Abbotsford police say an earlier incident which prompted a heavy police presence at two schools has ended. The area is safe for students to return to class.
Just before 9:30 a.m., Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School was placed under “lockdown” orders, and the building was evacuated after school staff called police about a bomb threat the school received.
Meanwhile, nearby WJ Mouat Secondary was put in a “shelter in place” directive, according to the Abbotsford School District.
Just before 11 a.m., both the school district and police confirmed the lockdowns were lifted and normal class operations had resumed.

Officers and police dogs searched the school.
“I want to stress all students are safe and accounted for, and no one at all was injured,” said Const. Paul Walker with Abbotsford police.
School families were to expect an email with further details.
Police are still investigating the origin of the received threat.
