Fatal stabbing in Vancouver’s Marpole neighbourhood under investigation

Vancouver police say a 19-year-old man has died following a fight outside a nightclub in Marpole neighbourhood early Monday morning.

Vancouver police say a 19-year-old man has died following a fight outside a nightclub in Marpole neighbourhood early Monday morning.

Police say at around 3 a.m. a fight broke out between a large group of people on SW Marine Drive and Hudson Street outside of the Gallery Vancouver nightclub. The victim was found suffering from stab wounds and despite efforts from emergency crews, he died in hospital.

According to police, a 24-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody. The investigation is still ongoing.

“This incident happened close to a nearby nightclub at closing time,” said Const. Tania Visintin. “We know there were a lot of people who saw what happened this morning and we need them to call police.”

Police say this is the city’s fifth homicide of the year.
