It looks like at least one crowd is trying to give Vancouver’s reputation as a “no-fun city” a run for its money.
A video posted to popular social media site TikTok has garnered thousands of likes and views, after a dance party broke out at Yaletown SkyTrain station, with the post suggesting it happened on Saturday.
Const. Amanda Steed with Metro Vancouver Transit Police says the crowd was brought to her attention on Monday.
“We didn’t receive any calls for service regarding these kids at Yaletown station,” she told CityNews, adding calls from curious locals came in after the video was able to make the rounds.

As for the crowd size, while it looks like a large number of people were packed into the small space on the platform between the stairs and guideway, Steed notes it’s not always easy to gauge just how many people were there from a single vantage point.
However, she says general concerns exist when platforms are quite full, especially if people are close to the guideways.
“But when you watch the video, there doesn’t appear to be any safety concerns. I mean, they are dancing and jumping around but they seem to be being pretty safe about it,” she added.
Steed notes the SkyTrain station may not be the best place for impromptu dance parties, recommending people take their gatherings elsewhere.
For anyone who may encounter something like this or any other instance that may make them feel uncomfortable, she says you can stay on the trains to the next stop or report any concerns to police.
“You can call us, you can text us — our texting line is 87-77-77. Any time that there’s an emergency or someone’s being unsafe, always call 9-1-1. But stay calm, that’s the number one tip that I can give. Some people don’t like crowds so if you find yourself in a crowd like this, the best thing to do is just try and stay calm and try and stay as far away from the track as possible. We don’t want any accidents happening,” Steed said.
