About 100 people were displaced by a large fire at a Port Coquitlam apartment complex Saturday.
According to the city’s mayor, the fire broke out at the building along Wilson Avenue, west of Kingsway Avenue.

There’s no word yet on what may have sparked the flames, but Brad West says the fire is now out and inspections are ongoing.
“There was one individual requiring care for a burn and one Fire Fighter requiring care for smoke inhalation,” he said in a Twitter thread Sunday morning.
He notes residents who have been forced from the building were offered temporary shelter at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC). The city has activated an Emergency Social Services centre at the PCCC to provide those affected by the fire with support.

While the investigation is ongoing, West tells CityNews the building is heavily damaged.
Local road closures are in place to allow investigators to work. West notes Wilson Avenue is closed between Donald Street and Mary Hill, while the intersection of Wilson and Mary Hill is also shut.
