Vancouver’s Eastside Culture Crawl returns on Thursday for a 26th year in its classic, in-person format.
Artistic and executive director of the Eastside Arts Society, Esther Rausenberg, says the event is back in “full swing.”

“We have no health and safety protocols that we have to adhere to,” she told CityNews. “Of course, there are some studios that might want to request that people wear masks, that’s up to the individual buildings. But overall, I think we’re just open.”
The event will be featured in nearly 70 buildings and studios throughout East Vancouver. Hundreds of artists, from painters and photographers to jewellers and sculptors, will be on hand. Some artists are from overseas, while others are B.C. locals.
“What we’re seeing is, of course, a lot of new work,” Rausenberg explained. “I think for some of the artists who haven’t been participating for the last couple of years, they’ve been working in their studios.
“We’re seeing new directions, we’re seeing new kinds of phases of creativity with these new artists.”

Rausenberg says organizers are expecting a good turnout for the event this year.
“I do anticipate that there’s going to be large crowds. Whenever the weather is nice, people do come out and about. There’s no reason for them to stay home and go ‘oh it’s too dark, it’s too cold, it’s too wet outside.’ None of that is happening over the next four days,” she said.
The Eastside Culture Crawl runs from Nov. 17 to Nov. 20. You can find more information here.
