‘Significant’ snow on the horizon for Metro Vancouver

Grab a toque and gloves, because a dumping of snow is set to arrive in Metro Vancouver this week.

On Sunday, Environment Canada put out a special weather statement for winter weather.

According to the group, “significant accumulations” of snow will start on Tuesday through to Wednesday morning.

In addition to the snow, strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, and a chilly windchill are also in store for the area.

But on Tuesday night, the snow is forecasted to turn into rain.

There is also a slight risk of freezing rain for parts of the Fraser Valley.

CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss predicted earlier in the week that the chilly weather was on its way, and he says it could continue.

“More of a winter-type pattern is setting up, not unlike what we had a few weeks ago where we saw some snow across the area and some snow at the higher elevations. The potential is there for snow all the way down to sea level in the middle of next week and daytime highs not punching much above the freezing level starting on Tuesday and it looks like lasting, at least, through next weekend,” Kuss explained.
