Police in Abbotsford say they were called to a violent home invasion near a marijuana grow operation Monday.
According to Abbotsford police (AbbyPD), officers responded to a report on Bowman Road, where “a group of male suspects” entered a home and showed its residents a gun before assaulting them.
The two victims had minor injuries, “but were incredibly shaken.”
After determining the house was home to a marijuana grow operation, police learned the two victims didn’t have anything to do with the operation, but instead were part of a farm on the same property.
Police say this home invasion and assault involving targeted innocent people makes the situation “incredibly concerning.”
“AbbyPD is reminding those that house marijuana grow operations on residential properties within the city, that these operations pose a significant risk to public safety not only to the occupants of these operations but to the nearby residents as well,” said Sgt. Paul Walker in a release.
In the meantime, the investigation is being conducted by the AbbyPD Major Crime Unit. Police say the investigation is still in its early stages.
AbbyPD asks anyone with further information to contact police at 604-859-5225.
