Man in Surrey’s Crescent Park seen running at woman with rope

Mounties in Surrey are looking to speak with a man who is said to have run in a woman’s direction carrying a rope at Crescent Park.

The “suspicious occurrence” happened Wednesday around 1 p.m. The RCMP says a woman was walking when she saw the man running in her direction, prompting her to run away and call police.

Despite a search of the park, officers were unable to find the man in question.

“Investigators are working to identify the man involved in order to determine the complete circumstances, and asking the man to contact police so we can speak with him,” Corp. Vanessa Munn explained.

Police are also clarifying various conversations happening on social media, saying that while some posts, that were “not made by the individual directly involved,” describe what happened as an “attack and/or attempted abduction,” “there was no physical or verbal interaction between parties.”

The man investigators are looking to speak with is described as tall with a slim build. He was wearing a white or light-coloured shirt with dark sleeves, camo shorts, and brown ankle boots at the time of the incident.

The RCMP is asking anyone who has information or who may have been in the Crescent Park area on Wednesday between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. and noticed anything suspicious to call 604-599-0502.
