Software glitch causes Diamond Parking overcharges

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you parked in one of the dozens of Diamond Parking lots around Metro Vancouver early this week — you might want to check your bank statements.

People who used their credit card or debit card to pay for parking on Wednesday or Thursday may notice an issue with their bill, says Holly Lytle with Elavon, the payment processor for Diamond Parking.

About 1,000 drivers have been charged multiple times thanks to a glitch in the payment system.

The company updated its system and that is what has caused the charges. “We had to do a system update and when we did that it impacted Diamond Parking causing some of their customers to experience multiple authorizations.  When you scan the credit card it doesn’t actually go all the way through on your account, but it will ding your account and hold those funds until the authorization rolls off.” Lytle explains.

She is reminding people to check their balances, and assures customers they will get a refund.
