Mounties in Surrey say charges have been laid against a second person — a minor from Calgary — in connection with a shooting at a Newton home last year.
One person was hurt when shots were fired in the area of 76 Avenue and 148 Street on April 17, 2023. Police say their investigation identified a 19-year-old suspect, also from Calgary, who was subsequently arrested and charged in July.
A minor was later identified as a second suspect, with charges now laid against him. Police have not said how old this person is, only confirming they are also a teen.
The Surrey RCMP says those charges include attempted murder, discharge of firearm with intent, arson damaging property, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a loaded firearm.
According to Mounties, the teen was arrested by Calgary police in December.
He has since been transferred back to B.C. and remains in custody.
