Vancouver airport warns about delays, cancellations with incoming snow

Vancouver International Airport says it is keeping a close eye on the weather conditions in preparation for incoming snowfall, which is expected to begin Tuesday evening and last through until the morning.
“We are proactively monitoring conditions and treating our runways, taxiways, and other critical areas with anti-icing agents,” the airport said. “We are also activating specialized maintenance crews who oversee snow clearing and de-icing.”
However, it warns, given the incoming inclement weather, fewer aircraft will be able to arrive and depart from the airport, and “there will be some impacts to flight schedules.”
“We continue to closely monitor the weather, looking at factors such as temperature, wind, visibility, and potential snow accumulation, and will scale our snow operations accordingly,” it said.
The airport advises that if your flight is delayed or cancelled, you should rebook online or over the phone, rather than going in to the terminal. It points out that some airlines have flexible rebooking policies in place.
