High winds in Victoria Wednesday morning have had a domino effect on BC Ferries sailings.
Early cancellations between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay have led to a multi-sailing wait.
Ferries resumed as of the 2 p.m., however, many of the vessels are full.
As of 4 p.m., the earliest sailings with available space were the 9 p.m. in both directions.
“We cancelled one trip because of high winds. It was, obviously, quite rough out there so we were looking to keep our customers safe,” explained BC Ferries spokesperson Jeff Groot.
“We were actually able to continue with the rest of our sailings because our coastal ships have higher parametres for sailing in bad weather. So, as of right now, we’re looking good for the rest of the day — it was just that one round-trip that we had to cancel.”
