Police are investigating a fire that broke out on a bus in Burnaby Friday morning.
It happened in the area of Hurst Street and Sussex Avenue just after 9 a.m.
A witness sent to CityNews a video showing the back of a TransLink bus on fire with thick dark smoke rising into the sky.
Corporal Laura Hirst says no one on the bus was hurt.
“The bus was occupied by passengers and it was stopped at the bus stop, and the driver of the bus had noticed the flames when they were stopped,” she said.
“Due to the quick action of the driver, all of those passengers who were on the bus were evacuated and there were no injuries.”
Hirst says the bus stop and some nearby powerlines were damaged.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
